Publication Vols. I & II, Routledge History Handbook

Press Statement on the publication of Volume I and II of the Routledge History Handbook of Central and Eastern Europe in the Twentieth Century

We, at the Imre Kertész Kolleg, are excited and very happy to announce the publication of the first two volumes of our four-volume series, “THE ROUTLEDGE HISTORY HANDBOOK OF CENTRAL AND EASTERN EUROPE IN THE TWENTIETH CENTURY”. Volume I: Challenges of Modernity and Volume II: Statehood are now available with Routledge.

The development of a comprehensive history of twentieth-century Central and Eastern Europe was one of the core tasks throughout the Kolleg's first phase of funding. For nearly a decade, the authors undertook this enormous endeavour with us and it is with a great sense of pride that we now present the first two volumes. Volume III: Intellectual Horizons will be available in August 2020, and we are positive that the fourth and final volume will be published by the end of the year.

We would like to extend our warmest thanks to the authors of all four volumes and to our in-house editor Jaime Hyatt. Collectively, their persistence, hard work and scholarly expertise has helped realize the completion of a comprehensive history handbook on Central and Eastern Europe. We would also like to thank the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research for their generous funding of the Imre Kertész Kolleg.
